DS Director Scott Leckie addressed Session 555 of the Salzburg Global Seminar on climate migration. The topic of this strategy session for Sustainability was ‘Addressing the Challenges of Climate Migration: Legal Protections, Resilience & Eco-Security’. It was convened to “design a multi-year program to connect and accelerate actions addressing the challenges of mass migrations resulting from climate change”.
Scott’s contribution focused on work carried out by Displacement Solutions in Bangladesh, Kiribati, Tuvalu and elsewhere, as well as DS’s work on developing The Peninsula Principles and other standards that encourage states to identify, acquire and allocate land for climate-displaced communities throughout the world.
