Displacement Solutions established the Coastal Kids Project in 2011 to expand understanding and awareness of what climate change means to schoolchildren throughout the world. The Project commenced in two schools – Sorrento Primary School in Sorrento, Australia and the William Carey Academy in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
In 2015 the Coastal Kids Project coordinated a Photography Competition with students asked to prepare a project which includes 1-4 photographs with accompanying text of not more than 100 words on the theme of “Climate Change and Where I Live”.
After reviewing dozens of excellent contributions, Year Six student Sam Schipalius of Sorrento Primary School was selected as the winner of the 2015 competition. Congratulations to everyone who participated in Coastal Kids 2015!
